Description:

The Child and Family Specialist provides services to clients and their families. Participates in inter and intra-disciplinary teams, advocating for the needs of the family. Provides advocacy, anger management training, visits in the home or community, development of community resources, and school observations. Drives and transports clients; must have clean driving record.

Duties:

Experience working with children and/or adolescents.

Ability to relate well to children/adolescents and their families, and to people of different cultures and ethnic backgrounds.

Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately.

Must have good sense of judgment as pertaining to position.

Must be able to prioritize and plan work activities and use time effectively

Must be a self- starter and be able to work independently

Must be able to complete projects and reports in a timely fashion

Must be able to maintain confidentiality

Must strive to continuously build knowledge and skills; and share expertise with others.

Must demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness and look for ways to improve and promote quality.

Must have excellent interpersonal skills

Must be able to get along with others in a courteous and respectful manner and work to resolve conflict at all times.

Must have a good attendance record in addition to being punctual by consistently being on time to work, meetings and appointments.

Must be a cooperative team player displaying flexibility and tolerance for constant change.

Must be enthusiastically committed to the overall well being of the department and the objectives of the Center.

Qualifications:

B.A. in human services or social services field. Experience working with emotionally disturbed children, adolescents and families.

Full-time; (40 hours per week) with some evenings required. Hours vary according to clients need.

Must be Bilingual Spanish/English.
